Effective February 1st 2021 St Mochta’s Football Club is introducing a new messaging policy to cover usage both internally between Club Volunteers and externally from Club Volunteers to Club Members.
• Club Volunteers covers Committee Members, Coaches, Managers and any other person representing St Mochta’s Football club in a specific role
• Club Members covers Players, Player Parents, Player Family Members and Spectators
Under the messaging policy the only approved messaging platform is ClubZap. All group and individual messaging in a club capacity must use ClubZap. Other messaging platforms including Text Messages, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger are not permitted as part of the the messaging policy. The messaging policy is designed to be compliant with GDPR regulations and introduce additional protections around Child Welfare.
GDPR Compliance: When a users signs up with ClubZap their personal contact information is not shared with other users with their personal phone number masked from other users. Other platforms such as WhatsApp previously presented a GDPR violation as within individual groups members can be added to groups and their personal contact information shared with other members of the group without their explicit consent.
Child Welfare: As ClubZap can be monitored and managed at a Club Level the risk of inappropriate content being shared is greatly reduced. Other platforms such as WhatsApp present greater risk of inappropriate content being shared with content from other personal conversations easily being forwarded to other groups.
Where there are GDPR or inappropriate content violations as the ClubZap platform is centrally managed the club is better equipped to react in an appropriate and expedited manner.
Use of any platform other than ClubZap for Club messaging is deemed a violation of this policy and the club have no responsibility for contact information or content shared by Club Volunteers or Club Members alike.
Violation of the messaging policy by Club Volunteers is subject to disciplinary review.
